This is the first podcast of the month so it's an interview podcast! We have Caroline join us this month. She's called on the farm phone before and provided a barn tour so you might remember her. She lives on a small farm, raises alpacas, goats, and chickens. On the show this time we talk about fiber and her goats.
In this weeks show:
So the request this week is to call the farm phone with what whacky thing you wish you could do but can't. If you live in the city what do you wish you could do?? If you live in the country what can't you do due to climate, etc? The phone number is 206-202-GOAT.
I hope you enjoy the show! If you want to email it's gfl@geekfarmlife.com

NOt a whacky thing to do, but I want to keep chickens. We have foxes here, just south west of Glasgow (One of the rural farm kids I was teaching a few years ago offered to get his dad come shoot the fox that I was waxing lyrical about...), so we would need to fox-proof the run. We are going to wait and see what happens re bird flu ('cos I don't want to freak my neighbours out and then have to get rid of the hens) and hope that maybe next year we can get 2 0r 3. And I would love a few alpaca - but that really is a non-starter. India

Hey India!
Good luck driving in the dry if you ever leave the UK. ;)
Chickens can be a lot of fun, and it shouldn't be too hard to build a fox proof run. We have a few foxes out here and they haven't been a problem yet. Know on wood. The eggs are soo much better than what you get at the store, they are actually yellow.
