Welcome to a show that ends in 5, that means it’s time again for the
listener question show. I’m always a little worried that no one will
call in, but I know I shouldn’t be. Even though it’s the middle of
summer and vacation time, we had 9 phone calls! It’s a great show
and we cover a ton of different topics. A big thank you to everyone
who called in, you really did make this show. In the show: (sorry if I spell your name wrong)

  • Intro, and location
  • Mira: Exotics vs Sheep, Dehydrator Book, Wild Harvesting, and GAMA seal lids
  • Melony: Summer Squash in small spaces update
  • Bill: Book Information, anyone using a root cellar? Call the farm phone: 206-202-GOAT
  • Tom: Answers the question about migratory beeks
  • Round Up section
  • John M: Goat milk honey, and hay prices
  • NCN: What do we miss about city life?
  • Angel: Pests, and do we like mushrooms? (yes)
  • Sheri: How hard is soap making?
  • Trip, next show, etc

Show 76 next week will be a toup of the farm durring chores, which pictures
and all that good stuff. In two weeks we’ll be back to normal with show 77.

Barncast 73 — Chard!

Filed under: Podcast, Podcasting, Food, Sheep, Bees, Cheese, Vegetables, Chard — andrew at 8:52 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2007

Show 73 is a little windy, oh well it’s summer time podcasting. This weeks show gets to the point pretty quick because we have SIX yes 6 calls to the Farm Phone (206-202-GOAT) and they are all wonderful calls. We liked one call so much it becomes the topic of the farm section, what to do with Swiss Chard. It’s a great plant, easy to grow, easy to cook, and really pretty. Why don’t we see it more?? In the show this week:

  • Farm Phone: 206-202-GOAT
    • Tech details, on how we do the show
    • Turning Sheep out
    • Unfriendly bottle lambs?? Hair sheep?
    • Peg makes cheese! http://peg-woolinmysoup.blogspot.com/
    • Omly is overrun by Swiss Chard
    • Dealing with Bee Stings
  • Round Up, a little slower this week
  • Farm Section: Chard

Barncast 61 — Shearing adventures

Filed under: Podcast, Sheep, Shearing, Wool — andrew at 6:30 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2007

Well due to popular demand (just look at the archived polls) we have another photo how to episode. While out shearing today Misty grabbed the camera and we walk through the pictures discussing them. If you don’t remember the first time we did this it was last fall about how to butcher poultry.

The link you to the gallery with the pictures is: http://photos.geekfarmlife.com/v/farm/sheep/shearing2007/

In this weeks show:

That’s it this week! I hope you enjoy the show, let us know! Please leave us comments or call the farm phone at 206-202-GOAT. We also hope you enjoy the new background green colour. It matches out beehives and milking stand. Show 60 discusses why we have this colour.

Barncast 56 — All about babies

Filed under: Podcast, Goats, Rabbits, Sheep, Geese, Lambing — andrew at 9:01 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2007

Well there’s been some changes since last week. There’s new voices to add to the show, 6 actually! You can hear at least 4 during the show. The ending this week is a little abrupt. After the mixer’s batteries die the batteries on the mp3 recorded died. That brings the show to a rather abrupt end. We were going long anyways, so you must have been saved by the equipment. In the show:

  1. Welcome and, talk about what’s new and show 55b
  2. Farm Phone! 206-202-GOAT. Sorry India, you’ll be on next week
  3. Round up: Goose trouble, rabbits, etc
  4. Farm Section: Prep and delivery of kids and lambs
  5. Show ends due to power failure

We love your comments and questions, please email them to gfl@geekfarmlife.com or call the Farm Phone at 206-202-GOAT.
