Filed under: Podcast, Goats, Australia, Vacation, New Zealand — andrew at 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 16, 2008

Well it’s been a heck of a trip, but after almost 4 weeks we have a fresh new podcast. This one is a little long, we have to make up for the last couple that were short. We have a pack of fresh new sounds from the barn thanks to Molly and Baby. I hope you enjoy this weeks show!

Barncast 97 — Through the grinder and back try #2

Filed under: Podcast, Goats, Meat, Dairy — andrew at 4:44 pm on Monday, December 17, 2007

Due to our hosting company falling off of the internet at a particularly bad time last nigh the post went up with a very incomplete file, so here is try number 2. In this weeks show we have FOUR great farm phone calls. They take us to task, provide great info, and over all wonderful calls. In the show:

  • Weather, it’s winter what else?
  • Farm phone: 206-202-GOAT. 4 great calls
  • Round Up: Drying up Baby
  • Farm Section: Ground meat

Please make sure to leave a comment or drop us a line at 206-202-GOAT. I’ll try and get the Video Extra up early in the week.

Barncast 56 — All about babies

Filed under: Podcast, Goats, Rabbits, Sheep, Geese, Lambing — andrew at 9:01 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2007

Well there’s been some changes since last week. There’s new voices to add to the show, 6 actually! You can hear at least 4 during the show. The ending this week is a little abrupt. After the mixer’s batteries die the batteries on the mp3 recorded died. That brings the show to a rather abrupt end. We were going long anyways, so you must have been saved by the equipment. In the show:

  1. Welcome and, talk about what’s new and show 55b
  2. Farm Phone! 206-202-GOAT. Sorry India, you’ll be on next week
  3. Round up: Goose trouble, rabbits, etc
  4. Farm Section: Prep and delivery of kids and lambs
  5. Show ends due to power failure

We love your comments and questions, please email them to gfl@geekfarmlife.com or call the Farm Phone at 206-202-GOAT.

Kids!

Filed under: Animals, Goats — misty at 2:18 pm on Sunday, February 25, 2007

Baby the goat had her babies today!

Male: 9 lbs
Male: 8.5 lbs

They are cleaned and separated from her, and walking around and bleating. :) I’ll give her another 40 minutes or so before I go out and milk her for the first time, and feed the boys.

Update!

Cream has twin doe’s Feb 27th around noon. Birth was easy and the kids cleaned up very well. They are learning to walk and I’ll get them weighed and fed in a couple of hours.

This brings the total up to 6 babies so far for 2007!

Barncast 39 — Caroline!

Filed under: Podcast, Goats, Weather, Fiber — andrew at 4:31 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2006

This is the first podcast of the month so it’s an interview podcast! We have Caroline join us this month. She’s called on the farm phone before and provided a barn tour so you might remember her. She lives on a small farm, raises alpacas, goats, and chickens. On the show this time we talk about fiber and her goats.

In this weeks show:

  • Farm Phone! — 206-202-GOAT
    • Ellen - Pt2, Balanced Singles
    • Jon Peder, Weather and wacky things
  • Farm Section - Goats!
  • Life Section - Fiber

So the request this week is to call the farm phone with what whacky thing you wish you could do but can’t. If you live in the city what do you wish you could do?? If you live in the country what can’t you do due to climate, etc? The phone number is 206-202-GOAT.

I hope you enjoy the show! If you want to email it’s gfl@geekfarmlife.com
