Another show from the barn on a blustery day! If you hear some new peeing in the background, which might be hard over the racket the goats are making you’ll be hearing the new ducklings we got this week. In the show this week:

  • Long intro about weather, travels, and Misty’s new hair cut
  • Two great calls to the farm phone, from John M and Carry. Thank you both! 206-202-GOAT
  • Geek Section: Podcamp Chicago
  • Round Up: Ducklings, Pasture, Milk report, etc.
  • Farm Section: Look over what food we put aside, what worked, what didn’t
  • Life Section: Chicago and dead batteries

We hope you enjoy the new show! We love your feedback, you can contact us by email at gfl@geekfarmlife.com the farm phone at 206-202-GOAT or please leave a comment!

Welcome to another show! It’s spring time, so if you were worried there wouldn’t be enough to talk about, stop worrying! The round up section this week takes a while to go through, but I think you’ll find we talk a bit more in depth about some things. Maybe it’ll give you to start your seedlings if you haven’t already! In the show:

  • Thank you to Tom and flies!
  • Two great farm phone questions! 206-202-GOAT is the number to call
  • Round up! From Kids to the garden to bees we cover a lot of things
  • Farm Section: Brood boxes and starting day old birds
  • No life section this week!

We love your calls to the Farm Phone at 206-202-GOAT, or you can email us at gfl@geekfarmlife.com!

Episode 10 — Revenge of the Barncast

Filed under: Podcast, Ducks, Spinning, Life, Website, Pasture, Vaccinations, Sausage — andrew at 4:26 pm on Sunday, April 16, 2006

Yay! We made it to the double digits. This weeks show is way way too long. We’re just trying to cram too much stuff in. Not only were we tired recording it, but it was much too long to edit. Even if there wasn’t much editing. =) Expect next weeks show to be back to 30mins.

In this weeks barncast we cover:

  • Taxes due!!
  • Wedding anniversary, sort of.
  • Failed cookout recording
  • New poll software
  • Spinning Cotton
  • Our front lawn as a pasture
  • Animal vaccinations and hoof trimming. CD&T == Tetanus
  • Still waiting on one sheep
  • Lamb name revealed!
  • Focus on Ducks. Storey’s book.
  • We answer the Hoosier Geeks, why did we leave the city?
  • Podcast of the week: Fibercast
  • Crazy Cuisine: Making sausage

We appreciate all comments and feedback. If you want to email us please do so at: gfl@three-elms.com. Hope you enjoy the show!

Update: Here’s a link to the sausage recipe: http://www.wwf5.com/stuffers.com/content/recipes/sausrecp.pdf

Episode 8

Filed under: Podcast, Cats, Rabbits, Ducks, Cooking, Indiana, Weather, Geese — andrew at 9:12 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2006

Another podcast from the barn! We have a few unstable hay bales, but we managed to make our sound, umm, studio in the barn work again. The animals are pretty well manered except for the ducks who try and steal the show a few times. This weeks show:

  • The weather!
  • Grilling vs BBQ
  • Indiana wants to be Kentucky?
  • Rabbits kits
  • Wednesday blood bath
  • Focus on an animal: The Geese
  • Daylight savings time on a farm, serious this time
  • Hoosier Daddy A new segment
  • Update on my Dad and Ezra

In the podcast I know I promised pictures. Well they aren’t online yet, I’ll try and do that Monday. I can hear thunder and the lights just flickered so I want to get this online before the storms hit.

Update: Here’s the picture galley. There’s 30 some pictures that range from the barn to the rabbits, to the geese, etc.
