We have a little fun inside this week. It’s cold up here again, so we’re not doing it in the barn. This leads perfectly into our farm section though, when we look at how to get heat where you need it. Of course, we have a great Farm Phone section. We go over batteries, green houses, and more! Make sure to call the Farm Phone with your money saving tips, or podcast recommendations at 206-202-GOAT.

This week we have a great farm phone section, with 5 wonderful calls. Make sure to call the farm phone for next week at 206-202-GOAT, or you can email us an mp3 at gfl@geekfarmlife.com.

This week was take a look at how we keep the animals fed and watered in the winter and some new things we’re trying this winter. It’s not very long, and continues on a topic we’ve had for the last 3 years, but if you’re a new listener, don’t worry you’ll know what’s going on too.

This week it’s just the two of us and some new hardware. I think the show sounds pretty nice with the new recorder but let us know! Either leave a comment of call the farm phone at 206-202-GOAT! In the show this week:

  • Farm Phone: 206-202-GOAT
  • CSA’s
  • Using chest freezers as storage, and limed floors
  • Geek Section: Tascam DR-1
  • Round up: Goats and garden
  • Farm Section: stories about catching swarms of honey bees

I think you can tell the vacations are over, we had a lot of great calls to the Farm Phone, 206-202-GOAT. Ben even calls us from the Pennsylvania farm show and shares tales of maple syrup cotton candy and everything he sees there. In this weeks show:

  • Welcome to show 101
  • 3 great calls about Bonafide, spinning, soap and generators.
  • Round up: Really short
  • Farm: How to keep your animals in, and stuff you build in one piece

I hope everyone enjoys this weeks show!

Welcome to this weeks show! While we talk about what to wear in the barn might not seem like the most exciting topic I think it’s pretty important. If you don’t enjoy working out in the barn you won’t be keeping animals for long. In this weeks show:

  • No Frost!?!
  • Farm Phone: 2 calls!! 206-202-GOAT
  • Round Up: Still lots going on
  • Farm Section: What to wear in the barn

This weeks show is a little different. I’m down under, and Misty is busy taking care of chores at home all by herself. We recorded this show while we did the chores on or around the 15th. I put the binaural microphones to my ears, took the camera and walked around the farm taking pictures and talking about what’s going on. This podcast would really benefit from being listened to with headphones due to the way it was recorded, it will make you feel like you are there with me.

I took pictures as I went, and you can hear the camera going off every time. Just use that to know when to change picture. It also means I couldn’t remove bad pictures, so you get the good with the bad. I hope you can follow along.

Number 11 is up! Run time is closer to our goal of 30 mins. I was down to 32 minutes, but then I mixed in a 10 minute sound seeing tour while we mucked out a pen. Oh well, I hope everyone enjoys it. This weeks show:

  • Misty complains about Firefox 1.5
  • Focus on goats
  • Sound Seeing: Pen cleaning
  • New animal!
  • Animal update
  • Pig Update
  • Pantry problems
  • Pomfret cooking
  • Thanks to a lot of podcasts

Podcasts’s mentioned in this weeks show: Polarbear Podcast, Viva Podcast, DownShift Me, Rural Radio

I hope I didn’t miss anyone!

Update: Sorry anyone who downloaded the show Monday morning. I put the wrong URL for the show in so you got show #10. I’m sorry!!!

Even though we’re fiddling around in the barn at night, we managed to make a podcast. This week we look at the big change about to hit Indiana! We’re not sure even we can survive it, but we’ll try.

We then talk about the new lambs, and then talk about the barn, who’s in it, and what we use it for. In the life section we look at going to movies in the country, and the podcast of the week is Decoder Ring Theatre.

We need a name for our new ewe lamb that we are keeping. We are asking for names of anyone you might know who’s birthday is on March 25th. Please email them or leave a comment!
