Barncast 147 — A look at Thanksgiving

This week we’re inside, it’s cold outside, so our ambient noise is just the house. This week we have 3 great calls to the farm phone, and then we take a look at the 3 thanksgivings we had.     I just wanted to let y’all know that since I have found your podcast my Monday morning drives are much more entertaining. Like many of your listeners I live vicariously through y’all, so keep up the good work!

    This morning I was listening and heard you talk about a flaky pie crust using whole wheat flour. I had run across a website, while looking for a good no sugar pumpkin pie recipe and they had a recipe for a good simple pie crust using whole wheat flour. Just thought I would pass along a link.

    For Thanksgiving I make a yummy savory butternut squash dish that is simple. Skin and cube butternut into 1 inch pieces. Cut up two red onions into 1 inch pieces. (I usually do this the day before.) Put squash and onions in a 9×13 baking dish and drizzle with olive oil, enough to coat, and season with lemon pepper and kosher salt. Bake at 425 for 35 minutes or until squash is fork tender and nicely browned.
