Filed under: Podcast — andrew at 10:08 pm on Sunday, June 8, 2008

Welcome to another great weeks show!

  • Intro
  • Farm Phone
    • Ducks nesting
    • Corn cobs
  • Round-Up
    • Numbers
    • Bonafide injured
    • Garden, Re-planted beets, Planted peppers, basil, oregano, and a couple more eggplant, lots of weeding, more needs to be done
  • Farm – Living Incubators
    • In the past we’ve used incubators, sometimes successful, sometimes not
    • Geese always sit on eggs and never have a good success rate
    • Turkeys were not successful either, though they sat on a ton of eggs
    • Viable eggs start with diet – breeder ration, good protein, higher CA:P ratio
    • Also need a really broody bird – not all are good sitters
    • Finally had a whole group of hatchlings – at least 9, we have lost 1
    • Benefit – less work for you
    • Detriment – many fewer hatchlings in a year because sitting birds don’t lay eggs
    • After-care: Take them away or leave them with mom
  • Life
