Barncast 116 — Portable Fencing #3

Filed under: Podcast — andrew at 9:00 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Welcome to another great show!

This week we revisit an old topic, our portable fencing we use. Instead of mowing all summer long we have the sheep and goats trim our grass. This is at least the 3rd time we’ve talked about it, but we go into more detail this time. Don’t worry though if you haven’t listened to past shows, we do enough review you won’t be left behind.

Make sure you call the farm phone at 206-202-GOAT!

Moving hives in the back of the jeep:

Tomorrow I’ll add a movie of me setting up the fencing.

Hi Misty and Andrew–

Fun video! Looks like the fencing is a snap, and your animals were very well-behaved and seemed to go right in. Although it would have been fun to watch Andrew chasing them around in time-lapse! : )

There was a very interesting video article on the New York Times web site today that made me think of you. It was about the fertilizer shortage and what it means to corn farmers. One farmer in particular built a pig building in which to raise pigs and to use the manure to fertilize his fields in the fall. Interesting!
